lyrics

(Blueprint) I write raps to accent my passion never following whack trends to cash in spent a lot of time in the south as a kid but I never had an accent like them the east coast was running rap back then when I decided I would grab pad and pen so from the very start I spoke from the heart my voice was a reflection of where I lived Hip Hop was the tool to communicate and got the inner city youth to participate making music instead of being in a gang but it's foolish to think things ain't change we used to take great pride in our spoken word now almost every single word is spoken slurred we used to spit raps now we just mumble 'em say what you will I find that troublesome (Both) what happens when the message disappears from the greatest culture of the last 50 years rain or shine I'mma be right here raising the bar for the few that wanna hear (2x) Let's Go (Ish) we stand on the shoulders of giants in all human endeavor strange tongues divided let music bring us together fusion producing this movement truth refusing illusion pursuant to uprooting & undoing confusion babbel on can't hour for ever my parents used to see it when i would dress punk rock they'd chalk it up to rebellion yo i dug the mohawk tattered jeans, worn shirts made it feel authentic never bothered to consider who might think me pathetic i wrote them off assumed closed minded perspective reaction gut shot hindsight more reflective i figured they bigoted don't like anyone different the dividend of the symptom all that's left is belligerent the opposition and defiance didn't scream mental health couldn't guess, in their eyes was a kid with no esteem for himself i'mma credit synaesthetics hearing color seeing sound that eureka moment seeing mumble gurgle and drown plain and simple sounds like it lacks self respect or worse harbors fraudulent purpose calm on the surface confidence comes correct what can we expect welcoming every accent wether anxious or medicated malicious actors found their way through the cracks & let me step back cause I need to take a second to go in on those who celebrate trap we know they named it for a trickster who steal our hope battery in back trappers holdin remotes cause those bastards sold they cousins to a white man with a boat I came to this through the poets what happens (Both) when the message disappears from the greatest culture of the last 50 years rain or shine I'mma be right here raising the bar for the few that wanna hear (Ish) slam loved hip hop trap raped slam I didn't see what went down but I think crunk had a hand mumble ain't rap no matter who understands no over arching standards formula's written in crayon the mutteres they fumble childish insulting at best brush off a style war no battles longevity's ultimate test won't judge the facial tattoos or the way that you dress I'm proud of all youth who show their elders respect that's the heart and central thesis of this verse real recognize real respect means acknowledging worth (Both) what happens when the message disappears from the greatest culture of the last 50 years rain or shine I'mma be right here raising the bar for the few that wanna hear (Blueprint) lets go
